farmerThe Montgomery County Extension Office is offering a series of workshops on home gardening and food preservation. Part 1: Planning and Prep will be held on Monday, March 29th, 6:30pm. Part 2: Preserving Your Produce will be held on Monday, April 5th, 6:30pm.
Part 3: Practice and Planting date and time will be determined by participants' schedules.
All workshops will be in the Multi-purpose Room of the Montgomery County Government Center, 755 Roanoke Street, Christiansburg. Participants of the series will gain practical knowledge of garden soil preparation, crop rotation, timing, gardening in containers, fertilization, irrigation, pest control, harvesting and more, all with an emphasis on sustainable practices. Plus produce selection and preparations for canning, freezing and dehydration.
The final workshop (Part 3) will provide participants with hands-on seeding demos and take home materials. Cost for the entire workshop series is $2.00 per person to cover materials. Advance registration necessary to ensure adequate supplies.
